Michele Di Stefano and his MK company have authored Reform Club with some of the students in the Dance-theatre course at the “Paolo Grassi” School of Dramatic Arts in Milan, established and directed by one of the leading Italian critics in the field, Marinella Guatterini, and modelled after the major European schools. Michele Di Stefano is part of a group of choreographers, such as Jérôme Bel, Kinkaleri, Anna Huber, who move and operate in an important sphere of experimentation for European dance, defined by critics as “non-dance” or “anti-choreography”. The product of radical thinking that refuses the theatre of representation, non-dance is expressed in conceptual operations or resolved in ironic gestures in which everything is dance, therefore “staging” alienation.
The Reform Club is an imaginary place where the protagonist of Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne accepts the bet that he can circumnavigate the globe in a restricted amount of time. The journey and its many unexpected events are met with unflappable detachment and unlimited faith in an order that seems inscribed onto the Earth itself, but looking closer, it is also a cheerful acceptance of the labyrinthian nature of the world.

Considered as a purist of dance, in which the sensual and physical quality of movement stands out, Israeli artist Emanuel Gat is currently one of the leading choreographers on the international scene. His new production, Brilliant Corners, which explores the ephemeral art of dance, which is born, dies and is always renewed in the circumscribed space of a gesture, will make its world premiere debut in Venice on June 24 at the Teatro Piccolo Arsenale (with a repeat performance on June 25). The production was created as part of the European Network of Performing Artsprogramme that the Biennale advances and shares, for dance, with the Dance Umbrella Festival of London and theDansens Hus centre in Stockholm.

The three masterpieces by Veronese from the ceiling of the church of San Sebastiano are exceptionally presented at eye level. The paintings depict “the Repudiation of Vashti“, “Esther crowned by Ahasuerus” and the “Triumph of Mordecai”.

In 1555 Paolo Veronese, just 25 years old, received a major commission from the prior of the convent Hieronymite of Venice: the decoration of the new church of San Sebastiano, work that engaged him for over twenty years.

His presence makes San Sebastiano one of the most representative places for the artist, who with his paintings and his fictitious architecture turns the sober structure designed by Scarpagnino into a rich and colorful organism.

After the renovation completed in January 2010, the paintings of the Renaissance painter  have regained the dazzling brightness of the coloring and this exhibition is a unique opportunity to see them before they return permanently to their original location at the conclusion of the exhibition.

It ‘s also a wonderful opportunity to visit the Palazzo Grimani, only a few steps from Campo Santa Maria Formosa. The building maintains the architectural elements and decorations by Francesco Salviati, Federico Zuccari and Camillo Mantua, stucco and paintings by Giovanni da Udine. And also it is possible to enjoy the original collection of of ancient art – Greek and Roman, and also drawings, tapestries, gems, cameos, pottery and more.
